ARTIST: Shanon O’Bracken.
Shanon is an artist & graphic designer based in Monaseed, Co. Wexford. She creates abstract botanical landscapes full of colour, texture & layers combining painting & printmaking elements using mixed-media.
The variety of the Irish land & seascape provides infinite patterns, shapes & form to explore. Shanon is inspired by the magic of nature from the changing seasons, native botanicals & the beautiful landscape surrounding her art studio in rural Co. Wexford & of course… the ever changing Irish weather.
Shanon studied Graphic Design & Illustration at Mansfield Art College, UK. Her illustrative style, calming & considered colour palette has developed over time working in design & illustration in London, Dublin, Wicklow & today works from her home studio in North Wexford.
Shanon’s current work explores & captures native plant flora & fauna with a focus on the blooming hedgerows, waysides & woodland areas around the Wexford & Wicklow countryside, depicted throughout the changing seasons.
“My work is embedded in nature. The landscape is my focus but my attention is invariably drawn to the banks & field margins, with their abundance of flora & fauna observing their transformation through the seasons.”
Shanon has recently been selected as a ‘Climate Ambassador’ focusing on sustainability in the Arts. The programme is co-ordinated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce.
