ARTIST: Shanon O’Bracken (1972)
Shanon O’Bracken is an accomplished artist and graphic designer based in Monaseed, Co. Wexford. Her creative journey unfolds through mesmerising abstract botanical landscapes that burst forth with subtle colours, intricate textures, and captivating layers. With an innovative blend of painting and printmaking techniques, Shanon masterfully employs mixed-media to bring her visions to life.
Immersed in the enchanting tapestry of the Irish land and seascape, Shanon draws endless inspiration from the myriad patterns, shapes, and forms that grace the scenery. The ebb and flow of nature’s magic, from the dance of changing seasons to the splendor of native botanicals, find expression in her art. Nestled within the tranquil embrace of rural Co. Wexford, her art studio is a haven where creativity thrives amidst the ever-changing Irish weather.
Shanon’s artistic prowess was cultivated through formal education, having studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Mansfield Art College, UK. Her distinctive illustrative style, characterized by a soothing and meticulously chosen color palette, evolved over years spent in the vibrant artistic landscapes of London, Dublin, and Wicklow. Today, Shanon channels her creative energy from her home studio in North Wexford.
Her current body of work delves into the intricate tapestry of native plant flora and fauna, with a keen focus on the flourishing hedgerows, meandering waysides, and serene woodland realms that grace the Wexford and Wicklow countryside. These elements are masterfully woven into her creations, which unfurl across the canvas like the changing seasons themselves.
Shanon’s artistic journey is an homage to the natural world. While landscapes are her primary muse, her gaze is irresistibly drawn to the lush banks and gentle field margins, abundant with a rich tapestry of flora and fauna. Through her art, she captures the metamorphosis of these elements as they transition through the seasons, a testament to nature’s eternal rhythm.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Shanon has taken on a pivotal role as a ‘Climate Ambassador,’ championing sustainability within the realm of the Arts. This remarkable endeavor is facilitated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce.
Shanon O’Bracken’s artistic narrative finds a home at The Gas Lamp Gallery in Gorey, Co. Wexford, where her creations are showcased with utmost elegance and finesse.
